Do I need boating experience?

Before setting out on your boat share, all members take part in Long Island Yacht Share's Premiere Boating Orientation Course where you will learn the proper berthing and safe handling of your boat by a USCG Licensed Captain.

How many members per boat?

The Overnighter Usage Plan has a maximum of two members while the Weekender Plan has a maximum of four.  Keep in mind that members may purchase more than one boat share so the actual number of members on each boat may be less.

When do I get to use the boat?

Each member is assigned a set of weeks in which they are allowed full access to their boat share.  Members are also allowed to swap weeks.

Who pays for gasoline?

Members are responsible to return boats with a full gas tank.

When does the season start/end?

Your boating season starts May 1st and continues through October 31st of the same year.  Premiere Boating Orientation Courses begin April 1st.

Do you offer daily boat rentals?

We do not rent boats by the day. We hope to build a long and trusting relationship with you.
